"Everlastings" = Rhodanthe chlorocephala

This is an australian native daisy - sometimes known as the 'paper daisy' because it is crinkly to the touch. It comes out in fields of colour and looks amazing.

It grows naturally throughout the south west of W.A. - but you can grow Everlastings at home -

The Rhodanthe chlorocephala that i used for the initial painting was photographed near quairading, and then from another group of photos from Dalwallinu. Then I finished the painting off from looking at real flowers found in a neighbors yard at Beverley, Western Australia

If you know anything about this flower or have any information I could include in this description then please message me (include your email):

About the Painting

The colours of the Everlasting flowers range from a pure white , through dusky roses to a strong pink - it was such a pleasure to paint them.

The edges of the painting are a pastel leaf green that matches the hues in the background. I have used more abstraction in the background of this painting (which i really like) - and it is juxtaposed by the focus on the flowers in the foreground

It is one of my favorite paintings so far

The Everlastings wildflower is the fifth painting finished in the series of Western Australian Wildflowers (as part of the latest 10 painting challenge)

See the Wildflower Paintings Happening

You can see each stage of the development of each painting happening right now on social media.

If you type #10paintingchallenge into facebook or twitter (or even google) it should come up with a series of the latest pictures I have uploaded onto social media.

Because I am working on quite a few at the same time it makes it quite interesting and varied to see

This new series of work is being painted on canvases that I have made myself from the highest quality materials (beware of cheap shop bought canvases that will unexpectedly warp with the weather)

They are still being sold at a reasonable price, because I will make an extended income from the images out of cards, prints and royalties - this makes owning an original an exclusive investment.

Bonus Wildflower Cards

DURING THE CREATION PERIOD - ANYONE WHO BUYS AN ORIGINAL PAINTING WILL ALSO RECIEVE A SET OF CARDS OF THE COMPLETE SERIES OF TEN WILDFLOWER PAINTINGS (when it is completed - so this takes patience)
